چکیده
This study presents a novel method for estimating the heat-attributable fractions (HAF) based on cross-validated best temperature metric. We analyzed association of eight metrics (mean, maximum, minimum temperature, maximum during daytime, nighttime, and mean, apparent temperature) with mortality performed cross-validation to select model in selected cities Switzerland South Korea from May September 1995–2015. It was observed that HAF estimated using different varied by 2.69–4.09% 0.61–0.90% six Korea. Based method, mean be metric, it revealed were 3.29% 0.72%, respectively. Furthermore, estimates improved selecting city-specific each city, is, 3.34% 0.78% To our knowledge, this is first observe uncertainty estimation originated selection metric present method.

The results showed that the total smoking-attributable deaths were 16,104.1 in 1992, 18,728.4 in 1995, 19,299.5 in 1998, and 22,191.5 in 2001. In men the cancers such as bronchus and lung, liver, rectum, and colon, and ischemic heart disease, aortic aneurysm represented the increasing trend of the smoking-attributable deaths, whereas in women hypertensive heart disease and other heart disease s...
متن کاملEffect of Previous-Winter Mortality on the Association between Summer Temperature and Mortality in South Korea
BACKGROUND It has recently been postulated that low mortality levels in the previous winter may increase the proportion of vulnerable individuals in the pool of people at risk of heat-related death during the summer months. OBJECTIVES We explored the sensitivity of heat-related mortality in summer (June-August) to mortality in the previous winter (December-February) in Seoul, Daegu, and Inche...

QUESTIONS UNDER STUDY During June to August 2003, high temperatures were reported across Europe including Switzerland. In many European countries, particularly in France the heat wave was associated with an increase in mortality. This is the first analysis investigating whether the high temperatures during summer 2003 in Switzerland had a measurable impact on mortality. METHODS Daily data on ...
متن کاملHeat-Attributable Deaths between 1992 and 2009 in Seoul, South Korea
BACKGROUND Climate change may significantly affect human health. The possible effects of high ambient temperature must be better understood, particularly in terms of certain diseases' sensitivity to heat (as reflected in relative risks [RR]) and the consequent disease burden (number or fraction of cases attributable to high temperatures), in order to manage the threat. PURPOSE This study inve...
